United Way is an organization dedicated to helping people. This is accomplished by assessing community needs, raising funds, allocating resources, fostering volunteerism, and encouraging collaborative efforts to resolve community problems.

When you give to United Way of Laredo, you are helping those in need right here in our community. When times are hard, when tradegy strikes, when the unexpected catastrophe happens, United Way is there to lend a helping hand.

In 2009 United Way agencies:

• Provided shelter for 17,460 men, women and children
• Provided health service benefits for over 25,000 people through programs providing dental care for children; breast prosthesis for women with breast cancer; assisted with medication assistance for individuals with mental health disorders, AIDS, and/or renal failure.
• Served over 417,070 meals to people in need.
• Helped to recover $485,700 in stolen property through a "Tips" program. This program also helped in 285 arrests.
• Provided educational, recreational, and leadership skills activities for over 568,374 youth in our community through after school programs, sports leagues, etc.
